Father John Misty - I Love You, Honeybear

I Love You, Honeybear is the second studio album from American folk musician Josh Tillman under the pseudonym Father John Misty released on February 10, 2015 on Sub Pop. Produced by both Tillman and Jonathan Wilson, this is Tillman's second studio album since his departure from Fleet Foxes. The album was also mixed by Phil Ek, and mastered by Greg Calbi at Sterling Sound. According to Tillman, the release is a concept album.



I Love You, Honeybear was recorded in 2013 and 2014 in Los Angeles. The album was produced by Jonathan Wilson and was mixed by Phil Ek and mastered at Sterling Sound.

Josh Tillman described I Love You, Honeybear as a concept album about himself. The album deals with Tillman's personal life, including him "engaging in all manner of regrettable behavior," as well as his relation with his wife Emma. Because of the album's raw, personal nature, Tillman worried about playing the songs live and initially had a hard time playing those songs to people close to him.

Scorpions - Rock You Like A Hurricane

Sunday, time for a classic tune.

"Rock You Like a Hurricane" is a song by the German hard rock band Scorpions. The song was released as the second track of their 1984 album Love at First Sting.


The racetrack depicted on the single's sleeve corresponds to the Circuito Permanente de Jerez, located in Spain.

The lyrics of "Rock You Like a Hurricane" also reference the title of the album on which it originally appeared – Love at First Sting. 

A new version was recorded in 2000 as "Hurricane 2000" on the album Moment of Glory, featuring Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra backing the track. In the same way, it was titled "Hurricane 2001" when played on the follow-up Acoustica. A third re-recording by the band features on their album Comeblack, released in 2011.

In terms of ’80s metal classics, however, the tune is the Platonic ideal: a headbanging-worthy repeating riff, gigantic drums, a ripping solo and an indelible refrain—sing it now—‘Here I am / Rock you like a hurricane.’


Although the official video is full of ’80s clichés (women dressed as animals, actual zoo animals, absurd sci-fi flourishes), the campy edge of the music never overshadows the ferocious nature of the song. Heck, ‘Rock You Like A Hurricane’ even sounds badass when interpreted by an orchestra: Just try to stop yourself from fist-pumping while watching this video of the band performing with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

Thunder - Black Water

New week and it's time to present this week's "Record of the Week".

This week's "Record Of The Week" is "Wonder Days", the latest release from the classic English hard rock band THUNDER, who originally formed in 1989 when the band TERRAPLANE broke up, leaving lead singer Danny Bowes and guitarist/main songwriter Luke Morley to form a new group, namely THUNDER. Retaining TERRAPLANE drummer Gary James (popularly known as 'Harry' James), they completed the line-up with bassist Mark 'Snake' Luckhurst and guitarist/keyboard player Ben Matthews. Though the band's main area of support has remained their homeland of the UK, they also enjoy significant success in Japan.

I really liked the old albums with THUNDER, like the classic "Backstreet Symphony" from the early 90's or "Laughing On Judgement Day" that was released a year after. That THUNDER returns with a new album as strong as this would never cross my mind.


"Wonder Days" feels like time has stood still since they released the classic tunes back in the 90's. The new album has a pretty good sound where the melodies and harmonies can collaborate with ease. That it sounds old occasionally is only positive, it swings without becoming mossy. Danny Bowes may not be the best singer, but for THUNDER he is invaluable. His voice is so strongly associated with this band so anything else would feel wrong. Wonder if THUNDERs formula to sound as fresh as they do is to have a break in their career. The album echo's of influences of band like old BLIND FAITH, LED ZEPPELIN and CHUCK BERRY, interesting mix.

To sum it up with a two words... Buy It!

It’s with a big pleasure to have the five-piece band back.

Toto - Orphan

The American rock band Toto have announced that March 20 is the release date for the upcoming 13th studio album "Toto XIV", in Europe, with The UK and Oceania on 3/23, and North America on March 24. The album will hit retail globally, with specific dates for territories in Asia, South America and others to follow.

Configurations for the new album will also include CD, with a deluxe edition available featuring a "making of" documentary on DVD, expanded booklet that includes an in depth story and interview about the new album alongside exclusive pictures in ecol-book packaging. Additionally Toto XIV will be available as a 2LP vinyl set, and a Super Deluxe limited edition which includes the Deluxe CD/DVD edition, 2LP vinyl, an exclusive poster, t-shirt (large size only), and lithograph.

Toto XIV is a realized vision three plus decades in the making exhibiting world-class musicianship, masterful arrangements, topical lyrical commentary, and melodies that the collective genius of Lukather, Paich, Porcaro, Williams and their assembled band-mates bring to life. TOTO XIV is the band’s first album of new material since 2006’s Falling In Between. However, the band personally considers the new album to be the true follow-up to TOTO IV, which made the band global superstars.

Keyboardist Steve Porcaro reveals, "This is opposite of going through the motions. We are treating this like it is Toto V, our follow-up to TOTO IV. We just want to be the best version of ourselves that we can be. Be true to ourselves and make the best music we can. Entertain people which is what we were put on this Earth for." Keyboardist David Paich reflects, "I think of TOTO as a unit and a band that carries a responsibility when it goes out there in to the public consciousness. There is so much negativity and darkness that I think you have to be as Quincy Jones puts it, 'beams of light that blast through the darkness'."

As they began the process of a return the studio, all of the principle long-term members brought their A-game to the table. Guitarist Steve "Luke" Lukather offers, "When you put us in a room, and everybody brings in their pieces, the next thing you know it all fits together. Everybody's performances are top notch. We are really bringing our best out, forcing ourselves to make personal best choices, what's best for the music. I'm really excited to hear what people think." Singer Joseph Williams adds, "We are talking about a band where everybody is a writer, and everybody is a lead singer, and everybody is a player. All involved brought this trio to the table where it could just live on its own."


The band will hit the ground running with an extensive European headline arena tour with appearances at key festivals. The itinerary begins in Glasgow on May 21, and takes Toto through the UK, France, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Italy, and Belgium. Ticket sales came out of the box with strength, with some appearances selling out within days of on-sale. A North American tour will follow in the summer of 2015. The band is also in the planning stages for their return to Asia later this year.

The last couple of years have been active, with a seven show sold-out tour of Asia that took them through Nagoya, Osaka, Tokyo, Sendai and Sapporo in April, 2014. Also that month, the 35th Anniversary Tour - Live In Poland title was released, debuting at #1 in territories across the globe. Last August and September, the band hit the road travelling across North America as co-headliners with Michael McDonald, which when it was all said and done was their most comprehensive tour on the continent in years.

Toto also continues to raise awareness for ALS, for their brother and friend, Mike Porcaro, who has been diagnosed with ALS, Lou Gehrig's Disease. The band commits energies towards fundraising for Police and Fire Departments of California and the Fallen Heroes initiative (http://www.fallenheroes.org/), and help the United Nations in their humanitarian endeavors through music.

Toto will begin an extensive European tour in support of their forthcoming new album on May 21st 2015 in Glasgow, Scotland at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. Elvenking - The Solitaire

The evolution of ELVENKING is quite impressive. With constant quality, the Italians have become one of Europe’s leading folk band. At the same time, the band managed to refine their unique sound.

Regarding their brand new release “The Pagan Manifesto“, it’s obvious that ELVENKING – again – have exceeded themselves and deliver the most rich and mature album of their career so far. While 2012’s “Era” album marked something like a new beginning for the band, ELVENKING continue right there but also extend the folk part, revisiting releases like the debut “Heathenreel”, the follow-up “Wyrd” and 2006’s “The Winter Wake”.

“The Pagan Manifesto” is a return to the bands Pagan Roots and sees a return to their original idea, concept and sound both lyrically and musically.

Just take the 13-minute epic track “King Of The Elves”, featuring Amanda Somerville (Avantasia, Kiske/Somerville) as guest. With “Elvenlegions” (which will be the album’s first single), ELVENKING release a very special song, dedicated to their fans. Folk rules supreme in “Moonbeam Stone Circle” and “Towards The Shores” gives you the ballad feel. Whatever ELVENKING do, they do well. And with “The Pagan Manifesto”, they brought their unique sound to perfection.

ELVENKINGs music draws their inspiration from very different genres such as metal, folk, hard rock, pop, prog and classical music.

Electric Boys - If Only She Was Lonely

Sweden's prime space cadets ELECTRIC BOYS are runnin' on rocket fuel with their latest album "Starflight United" and their new single "If Only She Was Lonely".

"Starflight United" is an album that contains Funky Riffs, Grooves and great Psychedelia. The new video "If Only She Was Lonely" was directed by Rickard Linder and edited by Robert Mila, it follows Spaced Out as the second track issued from the band’s fifth album, 2014’s "Starflight United".


Sweden's ELECTRIC BOYS were one of the first and most celebrated purveyors of the short-lived funk metal phenomenon of the late '80s and early '90s. Led by charismatic singer and guitarist Conny Bloom and with a splash of beatle-esque pop-psychedelia, the quartet garnered rave reviews and built an impressive following in Europe & America.

Slipknot - Custer

SLIPKNOT have released a Live Video clip of the track "Custer" that was earlier released as a promotional single.

After all the promotional releases, "Custer" received an official retail release in late January 2015, making for the third official single.

The song begins with percussionist Shawn Crahan describing what the tempo of the song should be. The track then quickly transgresses into one that is much more deep and forceful, opening the composition. The song contains samples of the "Screaming Goat" YouTube meme with lead vocalist Corey Taylor speaking in the manner of a radio announcer.

Metal Hammer describes the work as having "an air of the self-titled about it with Sid's scratching in the background and almost poem-esque opening verse". ArtistDirect describes the tune as '"Surfacing 2015" with a massive refrain and Faith No More-esque groove that burns and blazes with evil and engaging panache'

Dracula - Queen of the Dead

The Norwegian master singer Jorn Lande takes the help of his old friend, guitarist Trond Holter, together they undertake DRACULA with both garlic and silver bullets and makes a grandiose rock opera. "

This exciting concept album was inspired by the life of Count Vlad the III, Prince of Wallachia, widely known as Vlad, The Impaler or by his patronymic name Vlad Dracul(a). The whole story explores the inner struggle inside the multifaceted and engorging character that this mysterious 15th Century personality was, while also taking into account some of the metaphysical aspects that passed into literature, forming the whole basis of the vampire mythos.

Jorn Lande – who impersonates Dracula, is the main character of the album and the female parts are sung by Norwegian singer Lena Fløitmoen (representing Mina/Lucy from the Bram Stoker book). The drama of the story reveals Dracula’s inner battle, where he still remembers what true love was, and as he wandered the Earth for centuries with a thirst for blood, his loneliness and desire to be able to love again has led him to the brink of insanity. In the original Bram Stoker version, he leaves Transylvania by ship and when he meets Lucy's best friend, she reminds him so much of his first love Mina, that he becomes obsessed. His mission is to take her as his bride, and make her Queen of the dark.

Musically, “Swing of Death” is not like a typical rock opera or musical, since it has no storyteller or too many long instrumental parts and intros. It is an album that gets to the point with no detours and even if it exposes some diverse musical landscapes, it does include catchy and melodic songs with commercial radio potential. Vocally this release gives you everything from Jorn Lande’s past extensive catalogue all in one album. Jorn’s ability to be innovative and original while at the same time showing where his roots came from, is truly unique.

Jorn and Trond’s musical influence when creating this epic masterpiece came mostly from 70’s era Meat Loaf, Queen, Alice Cooper, plus some other Classic and more contemporary Hard Rock elements. All mixed together with their own modern musical heavy rock style, Dracula “Swing of death” is something extraordinary. The lyrics are not limited to the old days of Bram Stoker’s era and could easily be a Dracula story of today.

Yngwie Malmsteen - What Do You Want

Sunday, time for a classic.

Eclipse is the fifth studio album by guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen, released in 1990 through Polydor Records. The album contains a competent set of neo-classical rockers including today's tune "What do you want" that I play as a memory to the recent loss of Mats Olausson who was the keyboard player on this album.

Yngwie Johan Malmsteen; born Lars Johan Yngve Lannerbäck, 30 June 1963) is a Swedish guitarist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and bandleader. Malmsteen became known for his neo-classical playing style in heavy metal.

Little over a week ago I heard the sad news that Mats Olausson have passed away. He was is best known as the keyboard player in Yngwie Malmsteen band throughout the ‘90s, he died in Thailand. He was 54.

The Bangkok Post reports that Olausson was found dead in his hotel in Rayong on Thursday (Feb. 19) by an employee who noted that Olausson had not paid for his room or been seen in the hotel dining room. Upon entering, he found Olausson’s body along with numerous empty bottles of whiskey and cans of beer. He was identified by his passport.

Upon investigating the scene, police found no evidence of a struggle and believed that he had been dead for at least 24 hours. Olausson’s body will be sent to the Institute of Forensic Science in Bangkok for an autopsy.

According to his bio, Olausson was born in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1961 and received formal, classical piano training. Influenced by prog, he moved to Stockholm in the ‘80s and found work as a session musician. This included a stint working with Jean Beauvoir of the Plasmatics, performing on his 1988 album Jacknifed and embarking on a tour where they opened for the Eurythmics. Towards the end of the decade, he joined forces with Malmsteen and was a member of his band for nearly 12 years.

From there, he was in a succession of groups, including a cover band in Thailand, before leaving the road and returning to session work in Sweden.

Today's tune "What Do You Want" is in memory of Mats Olausson, R.I.P.

Rock icons WHITESNAKE are set to return with their 12th studio album this spring. "The Purple Album" will be released in Europe on May 15th and in North America on May 19th via Frontiers Music SRL. "The Purple Album" is a re-imagination of classic songs from David Coverdale’s time as the lead singer for DEEP PURPLEs Mark 3 and Mark 4 studio albums. The Gentle Storm - Heart Of Amsterdam

With a working relationship dating back to 1998, two of Holland's finest musicians have united for a new project dubbed THE GENTLE STORM.

The Diary is the upcoming first album by symphonic metal/ folk rock band THE GENTLE STORM, consisting of composer and guitarist Arjen Anthony Lucassen (AYREON, STAR ONE) and singer and lyricist Anneke van Giersbergen (THE GATHERING, DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT). It will be released on March 24th, 2015 in Europe, and the following day in the US.



THE GENTLE STORM marks a truly astonishing collaboration. A concept album about a love story set in the 17th century, An epic production, containing two contrasting interpretations of the same songs: acoustic / folk arrangements (“Gentle”) and a full-on metal assault (“Storm”). This is symphonic metal/prog of blockbuster proportions and will also be presented live!


Arjen Lucassen and vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen originally crossed paths in '98 for AYREONs breakthrough third album, Into The Electric Castle. Ten years later they teamed up again for AYREONs seventh album, 01011001, both having established themselves as world renowned heavy metal/rock artists in the decade between releases. Although their respective musical styles went in vastly different directions during that time, Arjen and Anneke retained a common ground that ultimately led to the creation of The Gentle Storm.

The album release will be followed by live dates through the spring and summer European festival season. Known for touring extensively year after year, Anneke will take THE GENTLE STORM on the road backed by well known Dutch talents. Arjen, however, will not be part of the live production.

The Killer Instinct is the second studio album by hard rock band BLACK STAR RIDERS, released on February 20, 2015. BLACK STAR RIDERS evolved from the touring version of Thin Lizzy, assembled by guitarist Scott Gorham after the death of Thin Lizzy's leader Phil Lynott. The band's first album, All Hell Breaks Loose, was released in 2013.

Recording for the band's follow-up to All Hell Breaks Loose was first announced during late 2013, and on 27 January 2014, it was announced the band's second album would be recorded in Dublin in October, and would be produced by DEF LEPPARD vocalist Joe Elliott. Elliott had previously worked on vocalist Ricky Warwick's solo albums, and also with Scott Gorham on archival Thin Lizzy releases. However, Elliott pulled out of the project in August 2014 due to conflicts with Def Leppard's schedule. He was quickly replaced by Nick Raskulinecz, and recording took place in Nashville, Tennessee in September.

Nick Raskulinecz is known for his work with FOO FIGHTERS, he has worked with such artists as GHOST, WE AS HUMAN, EVANESCENCE, MARILYN MANSON, DEFTONES, COHEED AND CAMBRIA, STONE SOUR, TRIVIUM, DUFF MCKAGAN, DANZIG, MY RUIN, VELVET REVOLVER, RUSH, MASTODON, SHADOWS FALL, DEATH ANGEL, DANKO JONES, APOCALYPTICA among others.

The Killer Instinct is the first Black Star Riders album to feature former RATT and LYNCH MOB bass guitarist Robbie Crane, who replaced founder member Marco Mendoza in June 2014.


When the album title was announced on 21 November 2014, Warwick explained the name:

"Life's not fair. Never has been, never will be. Sometimes you have to live with a killer instinct just to survive in the pursuit of happiness. Nobody can do for you what you should be doing for yourself."

Guitarist Damon Johnson praised the album's producer Nick Raskulinecz, stating:

"He patiently walked through the full song list with the entire band, and made sure we focused on the material to best represent Black Star Riders in 2015."

Nocturnalia - Lady Of The Woods

Above Below Within is the second full length album by Swedish psychedelic rock quintett Nocturnalia (formely known as Nocturnal). It's a seven track opus with a more cultivated sound than it's predecessor but with the same underlying philosophical concept which has always been the foundation of their creative process. The album was recorded and mixed by the bands newly added guitarist Linus Lundgren at studio Ganymeden in Linköping during the summer of 2014. Unlike the last recording they also decided to produce the album by themselves, leaving a more personal mark on the final outcome.


The idea behind the album was to collaborate with different kinds of artists and thus putting further emphasis on the artistic expression. Creative director Mattias Ekeblad, painter Zlatan Dukic, classical pianist Elena Zorina among others have contributed in developing a more refined visual and musical concept.

The Darkness - Barbarian

Last of Our Kind is the upcoming fourth studio album by the British rockers THE DARKNESS. Produced by guitarist Dan Hawkins at his studio Leeders Farm in Norfolk, the album is due to be released on 1 June 2015 by Kobalt Label Services. It is the first album by the band to feature drummer Emily Dolan Davies, who replaced Ed Graham in 2014.


The follow-up to 2012's "Hot Cakes" was recorded at Leeders Farm Studio in Norfolk, owned by Dan Hawkins. The album was written in Ireland.

Frontman Justin Hawkins has described the album as "brutal", adding that

"It's definitely stripped back with the exception of some mandolins. But when you're doing medieval rock, you should have a mandolin on it ... It's medieval rock, but it still sounds like The Darkness. It's medi-urban, I suppose". Speaking about the style of opening track "Barbarian", Hawkins has joked that the song contains "not one but two dramatic monologues, a guitar solo that has been declared 'irresponsible', a riff that weakens lady knees" and a chorus that makes grown men shit directly into their pants". Explaining the meaning of the lyrics more deeply, the singer has noted that they "describe the Viking invasion of East Anglia which culminated in the decapitation of Edmund the Martyr", describing the thematic basis as "classic Darkness"

"Last of Our Kind" will be released on limited-edition color vinyl, compact disc and as a digital download.

Rush - The Spirit Of Radio

Sunday, time for a classic.

"The Spirit of Radio" is a song released in 1980 by Canadian rock band RUSH from their album Permanent Waves.

The song's name was inspired by Toronto radio station CFNY's slogan. The song was significant in the growing popularity of the band. It is also the first song of the 1980s (for the band as well as in general), since Permanent Waves was released on January 1, 1980, and it was the opening track on the album. The band had grazed the UK Top 40 two years earlier with "Closer to the Heart", but when issued as a single in March 1980. It remains their biggest UK hit to date (the 7" single was a 3:00 edited version which has never appeared on CD to date).

"The Spirit of Radio" was named one of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll, RUSHs only such entry. The song was among five Rush songs inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame on March 28, 2010.


Promotional 12-inch copies were released in the United States late 1979 with the B-sides of "Working Man" and "The Trees", and the song being incorrectly titled "The Spirit of the Radio"



The final lines of the song ("For the words of the profits were written on the studio wall.../Concert hall/And echoes with the sounds of salesmen") are an allusion to the famous final lyrics from the Simon and Garfunkel classic "The Sound of Silence": "...the words of the prophets/Are written on the subway walls/And tenement halls/And whispered in the sounds of silence.

One of the lines of the song references the composition Morning Mood, which bears a strong musical similarity to the opening guitar riff.

The album version includes the sound of a cheering crowd just after Lee sings "concert hall." It has since become a tradition in live shows for the arena lights to come up at this point and the audience to cheer, mimicking the effect, as shown on every live DVD from Grace Under Pressure Tour forward.

On performances during the 1981 tour, the line "one likes to believe in the freedom of music" was changed to "one likes to believe in the freedom of baseball" as a commentary on the 1981 Major League Baseball Players Association strike. Geddy Lee still occasionally drops this change into the song when performing live.

The live version recorded in June 17th, 1980 at the Apollo in Manchester, England appeared as a playable song in the 2009 video game Guitar Hero 5 where it is considered one of the hardest songs on guitar in the game.




The song is sampled on the 1993 track, "Conchita Martinez", by Saint Etienne.

Van Morrison - Crazy Love

Monday, new week, time to present this week's album.

As there is a lot going on right now in life have almost all purchased albums ended up in a pile that's gets bigger and bigger everyday since I do not have time to listen to them right now. However, the final tour week is up for the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest (Melodifestivalen) so soon will the records spin again, something I have been looking forward for a long time.

So today we pick up a classic album, a bit odd thing that usually are displayed here, this is a record that I do like a lot, moreover it is now re-released with tons of bonus material.




"Moondance" is this weeks "Record Of the Week". It's the third studio album by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison. It was released on 28 February 1970 by Warner Bros.

The album's musical style blends R&B, folk rock, country rock, and also jazz (most obviously on the title track).

The single released was "Come Running" with "Crazy Love" as the B-side. "Crazy Love" was only released as a single in the Netherlands and did not chart. "Moondance" was not released as a single until 1977.

Moondance was critically acclaimed when first released and established Morrison as a major artist. The songs on the album quickly became staples of FM radio. It has proven to be Morrison's most famous album, often appearing on many lists of best albums of all time. Among other awards, it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999. In 2003, it was ranked #65 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time".

The combination of music and lyrics of the songs on the Moondance album comprised the first Van Morrison album that was highly accessible with various genres that blend jazz, soul, country, and blues.

The opening song, "And It Stoned Me", is a real beauty piece of music, here we hear a young man witha confidentsoul. According to the singer, depicts a true tale of a day in his childhood. The lyrics show that the setting of the song is rural, including references to a county fair and mountain stream.

The title song is mostly acoustic but also includes electric bass and piano, guitar, saxophone, and a flute over-dub played softly behind Morrison's voice, which imitates a saxophone towards the song's end. A nice jazz swing from a rock musician.

Todays tune "Crazy Love" has Morrison's voice so close to the microphone that a click of Morrison's tongue hitting the roof of his mouth is picked up. He sings in falsetto, producing a sense of intense intimacy, with the backing of a female chorus. This is a tune that you should play for your wife/girlfriend. 

The song "These Dreams of You" manages to be simultaneously accusatory and reassuring. The lyrics cover such dream sequences as Ray Charles being shot down, paying dues in Canada, and "his angel from above" cheating while playing cards in the dark, slapping him in the face, ignoring his cries, and walking out on him.

"Brand New Day", Morrison says he was inspired to write it after hearing The Band on FM radio playing either "The Weight" or "I Shall Be Released": "I looked up at the sky and the sun started to shine and all of a sudden the song just came through my head. I started to write it down, right from 'When all the dark clouds roll away'". Ritchie Yorke quoted Morrison as saying in 1973 that "Brand New Day" was the song that worked best to his ear and the one with which he felt most in touch.

Several of the songs on the album have been popular cover songs since its release in 1970, most prominently the title song, "Moondance" but "Crazy Love", "Into the Mystic" and "And It Stoned Me" have also been frequently recorded and performed live by popular artists. Cover artists of Moondance songs include: The Allman Brothers Band, Michael Bolton, Michael Bublé, Vicki Carr, Paul Carrack, Joe Cocker, Rita Coolidge, The Dead, Glen Hansard, Colin James, Brian McKnight, Helen Reddy, Rod Stewart, and The Wallflowers. Duets were performed by Morrison with Ray Charles and Bob Dylan.

 
Todays tune "Crazy Love" is a romantic ballad written by Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison and included on his 1970 album, Moondance. The song was released as a single in May 1970 with "Come Running" as the A-side, and again in the Netherlands with "Come Running" as the B-side. The cover of the single shows Morrison with his then-wife, Janet "Planet" Rigsbee. The photograph was taken by Elliot Landy, the official photographer of the 1969 Woodstock festival.

Ray Charles introduced Van Morrison by starting the first verse before Van's appearance when he was inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame in 2003. Morrison and Charles then finished with a duet of "Crazy Love". Ray Charles remarked about this performance: "It meant a lot to sing 'Crazy Love' on stage that evening." Genius Loves Company, Ray Charles' 2004 album, includes this duet featuring the two singers. Van Morrison and Bob Dylan sang a duet of "Crazy Love" on the BBC film, One Irish Rover in 1991.

BARREN EARTH, the finish messengers of melodic prog/death metal, will release their new album "On Lonely Towers" release date is set to March 24, 2015 by Century Media Records.

The album which has been described as "mournful, winding, hopeful, ambitious and rugged".

BARREN EARTH have been singer less quintet for some time since the singer for Mikko Kotamäki, who left the band during the summer 2013, now finally they find a replacement by the Faroese singer Jón Aldará who joined the band as the new lead vocalist. He is also known from the Faroese metal band Hamferð.



The first taste from the upcoming album "On Lonely Towers" is today's tune "A Shapeless Derelict", where the music sounds like BARREN EARTH but with more mean and cruel vocals, looking forward to hear the full album when it's released.

Phillip Walker - Walking with Frankie

Phillip Walker (February 11, 1937 – July 22, 2010) was an American electric blues guitarist, most noted for his 1959 hit single, "Hello My Darling", produced by J. R. Fulbright. Although Walker continued playing throughout his life, he recorded more sparsely.

Phillip was the seventh of twelve children of Malvin and Viola Weber Walker, sharecroppers who were married at ages 14 and 13 and began raising a family when they were only children themselves. Malvin was a smart hardworking farmer who always managed, somehow, to keep a roof over the heads of his family. Malvin could fix anything, and Phillip seems to have followed in his dad's footsteps with a mechanical aptitude nothing short of amazing. When Phillip was 8 years old his family moved to Port Arthur, Texas. It is this combination of Louisiana Creole, French, and Indian (his mother’s mother was full-blooded Cherokee), and Texas western gunslinger that combines to prod Phillip’s unique speech patterns, accent and dialect. His mother spoke in the French Creole dialect (Cajun) of the area.


Things went smoothly in Port Arthur for a while, but by the time he was 12 years old, his father’s health had begun to fail and the biggest and strongest boys were expected to get the crops in. From that time, as happened in so many poor families, attendance at school became sporadic, and Phillip’s formal education was essentially finished. Phillip’s uncles, (his mother’s five brothers, including Uncle Phillip Weber), all played in bands in the 20’s and 30’s and often came around and played guitar; musicianship runs in the family. Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown is a second cousin. [For the record, Aaron “T-Bone” Walker, who also had a full-blooded Cherokee grandmother does not appear to be related to Phillip, though it has been documented otherwise in quite a few places and there is some question.] Phillip became interested in music at a young age. Not being able to afford a guitar of his own (his work in the fields earned no cash), Phillip constructed his first instrument from a cigar box, using the thinnest wire he could find (carefully and secretly removed from the family’s window screens) for strings. He had a natural ear and a God-given musical talent, and became very good quite early. He spent every spare minute, when he wasn’t working in the fields or helping herd or brand cattle, learning his instrument. He would play softly into the middle of the night, and to this day rarely sleeps more than 5 hours at a stretch.

Musically, Mr. Walker is an innovator. He breaks the rules. He makes it work. And what he brings to the places he goes is an All-American zest for life, evident at all times in his "up close and personal" music. Phillip seems to also contradict the rules in that his live performances are every bit as good as his recordings, if not better! Infused by the energy of the crowds he draws, he and his band create an environment with their music where people just can't help getting up and dancing their blues away. When questioned by the blues traditionalists as to how his music can be called "blues," Walker most often responds: "Why not?"

Some say there can be no artistry without agony. And the real life-changing events that shape the creative spirit don’t happen overnight.

Beth Hart has been dealing with demons that have pursued her for her whole life: her older sister who died from complications from AIDS when Beth was only 20 and her own battle with drugs, booze, bad relationships, bad decisions and ultimately the diagnosis that tied the knot on the whole damn thing, bi-polar disorder. It’s enough to send anyone into a downward spiral that’s inescapable.

And on face value, her new album, "Better Than Home", is saying, “anything is better than those demons, so I’m gonna go out of my way to create something better than that.”

Beth’s putting those demons behind her, embracing the great things she’s done and the good things she has and looking forward, because no matter how bad things got sometimes, no matter how dark the sky, something always drove her into the light.

Beth Hart (born January 24, 1972) is an American singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, California, United States. She rose to fame with the release of her 1999 single "LA Song (Out of This Town)" from her second album Screamin' for My Supper. The song also aired during Episode 17 of the 10th and final season of Beverly Hills, 90210. Beth Hart also delivered music to the end-scene of the last episode of Californication season 6, with "My California", Subsequent albums namely Seesaw and Live In Amsterdam by Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa, achieved number 1 status on the Billboard Blues Album Chart. Hart's release Bang Bang Boom Boom rose to number 3 on the Billboard Blues Album Chart, as well as the album Don't Explain by Hart and Bonamassa. Hart has had two number 1 singles in Denmark "As Good As It Gets" and "Learning To Live", as well a platinum selling album, Leave The Light On.

Hart's first album with Bonamassa, Don't Explain, went gold in The Netherlands. In 2014 Hart was nominated for a Grammy Award for Seesaw and she was also nominated for a Blues Music Award in the category 'Best Contemporary Blues Female Artist'.

Hart is married to her road manager Scott Guetzkow, and currently resides in Los Angeles. Her band includes lead guitarist Jon Nichols, bassist Bob Marinelli, drummer Bill Ransom, and guitarist P.J. Barth. Her manager is David Wolff. She has overcome drug addiction.

The upcoming album "Better Than Home" will be released worldwide on Provogue/Mascot Label Group in April 2015.
