Triumph and Power is the seventh full-length album by Swedish heavy metal band Grand Magus. It was released on January 31, 2014 on Nuclear Blast. Vocalist JB Christofferson described the album as "really powerful, majestic and less 'hard rocky' than" previous album, The Hunt (2012). Christofferson described Triumph and Power as "really the essence of this band"

Grand Magus haven't just laid down the gauntlet of true metal, they've just forged the damn thing. If you don't have anything with these dudes, then I recommend that you do something about it. The latest album "Triumph and Power" is a powerful record. The riffs as massive as mountains belt from the speakers! It's a real heavy metal record.

Joe Walsh - Life's Been Good

Sunday, time for a classic tune. Today we turn back the year clock to 1978.

"Life's Been Good" is a song by Joe Walsh, which first appeared on the soundtrack to the film FM. It was released as a single and appeared on Walsh's album But Seriously, Folks.... It peaked at #12 on the US Billboard Hot 100, remaining his biggest solo hit.

In the song, Walsh satirically reflects “I lost my license, now I don’t drive.” In fact Walsh explains that he simply lost his wallet and the driver’s license ("My Maserati does 185 (mph) / I lost my license, now I don't drive"). Also he adds the antics of all rockers of the era are reflected, such as the nod to Keith Moon and others: "I live in hotels/Tear out the walls."

The 1979 Rolling Stone Record Guide called it "riotous", and "(maybe) the most important statement on rock stardom anyone has made in the late Seventies."

"Life's Been Good" has a mid-tempo, reggae-like groove marked by bedrock guitar riffs, synthesizers, and humorous lyrics. Walsh's ARP Odyssey synthesizer riff accompanies the lead guitar in the middle of the song. The lead guitar in the outro is accompanied by the main riff. Bill Szymczyk and Jody Boyer perform the backing vocals.

Joe Walsh: "Lucky I'm sane after all I've been through"
Call: Bill Szymczyk: "Everybody says, "I'm cool""
Response: Jody Boyer: "He's cool"

Joe Walsh: "They say I'm lazy but it takes all my time"
Call: Bill Szymczyk: "Everybody say, "Oh, yeah""
Response: Jody Boyer: "Oh, yeah!"

At the end of the LP, there is a clip of an inside joke stating "uh-oh, here comes a flock of wah wahs", recorded from inside the studio. After the music has faded away into silence, there's a 10-second gap before the inside joke. That inside joke would also be included at the end of disc one of the Eagles' box set, Selected Works: 1972–1999. Made after Walsh had joined the Eagles, "Life's Been Good" was incorporated into that group's concert repertoire, appearing in shows at the time as well as reunion tours. It remains a staple of classic rock radio playlists.

In 2013 this song is sampled on Eminem's "So Far..." off of The Marshall Mathers LP 2, produced by Rick Rubin.

Joseph Fidler "Joe" Walsh (born November 20, 1947) is an American singer, songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer. In a career spanning more than 40 years, Walsh has been a member of five successful rock bands: the Eagles, the James Gang, Barnstorm, The Party Boys, and Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band. In the 1990s, he was also a member of the short-lived supergroup The Best. He has also experienced success both as a solo artist and prolific session musician, being featured on a wide array of other artists' recordings. In 2011, Rolling Stone placed Walsh at the number 54 spot on its list of "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time."

Monday, which means it's time to introduce this week's "Record Of The Week"

"Shake Electric" is the second album release from the Swedish, heady four piece rock band "Spiders"

Spiders have a classic retro sound. Musically it’s fast heavy hard garage rock with a strong 70's feel with a modern twist.

Spidersretained itsrawnessand gloriousmessinessfromthe debut album."Shake Electric" is a great record that is wrapped around with some great powerful vocals from Ann-Sofie Hoyles along with some meaty and catchy riffs. The songs are at high-quality and excellent performed. They have delivered a really enjoyable set of classic songs with the vintage sounds that will suit most of the rockers out there.

A perfect Christmas gift for all the rockers of classic rock from the 70's.

Spiders was formed in Gothenburg in February 2010. A few months later the band appeared at one of Sweden’s most successful music festivals, Way Out West. It was around this time SPIDERS for the first time as a band stepped into the studio with producer Don Ahlsterberg (The Soundtrack of Our Lives, International Noise Conspiracy) and started recording.

By the end of January 2011 Spiders released their debut record, a 10” vinyl EP on Crusher Records containing four tracks. The self-titled release was very well received and noticed in Record Collector as well airplayed on Sweden’s largest radio channel P3. In March 2011 those four previously released tracks came to be released in the USA as two separate 7” singles, one on Kemado Records the other on Valley King Records, the latter with an artwork made by well-known artist Alan Forbes.

Around this time drummer Axel Sjöberg, former drummer, left Spiders to work full time on Graveyard and came to be replaced by Ricard Harryson. In May 2011 Spiders stepped into the studio for the second time recording a two track single to be released on vinyl by De:Nihil Records in August and digital by Crusher Records in September.

In June 2012 Spiders began recording songs for their debut album. In early October the very same year the album, entitled “Flash Point”, was released. The album immediately reached the Sverigetopplistan, the Swedish Sales Charts of most sold albums. In November and December SPIDERS went on European tour together with Graveyard. By the end of the same year SPIDERS’ debut album was nominated by P3 Gold (Swedish Radio Award) for best Rock/Metal of the Year.

In 2013 the band appeared on Sweden Rock Festival, toured Scandinavia, Spain and Portugal. In 2014 SPIDERS supported Kvelertak in Scandinavia and Blood Ceremony throughout Europe. On May 27th they release the new single “Mad Dog” on Reaktor Recordings / Universal Music.

Audrey Horne - Holy Roller

Audrey Horne hails from Norway. This brilliant side project of Ice Dale (Enslaved) and Thomas Tofthagen (Sahg) has paved a shockingly catchy trail of pure rock madness since 2005's No Hay Banda. The record "Pure Heavy" is packed with gritty, slick and smoking solos. And the harmonies is like ear candy.

Audrey Horne are a hard rock band from Bergen, Norway. The band took its name from Sherilyn Fenn's character in the cult TV series Twin Peaks.

The band was formed in 2002 by Toschie (formerly in Sylvia Wane), Thomas Tofthagen (Sahg), Arve Isdal aka Ice Dale (Enslaved, Bourbon Flame ao), Kjetil Greve (Deride), Tom Cato Visnes aka King (Gorgoroth, God Seed, Sahg, King Ov Hell) and Herbrand Larsen (Enslaved).

Although some of the band's members play or have previously played in black metal bands like Enslaved and Gorgoroth, Audrey Horne's music is far removed from the black metal genre, and can be described as heavy and melodic classic rock, similar to bands like Van Halen, Kiss, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy, Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, Faith No More and Alice In Chains.

Current members

Torkjell Rød/Toschie (vocal)
Arve Isdal/Ice Dale (guitar) (also in Enslaved)
Thomas Tofthagen (guitar) (also in Sahg)
Kjetil Greve (drums) (also in Deride)
Espen Lien (Bass)

Audrey Horne - Pure Heavy (LP + Bonus 7") and the Limited boxset version.

Todays tune "Holy Roller" is taken from the latest album "Pure Heavy", released 2014. It's a great hard rocking swagger with snagging hooks.

Fall Out Boy - Centuries

The American rock band FALL OUT BOY have paid tribute to their home city of Chicago in the "hyperlapse edition" of the video for "Centuries"(stylized as "Cen†uries"), the anthemic first single from their as-yet-untitled sixth album.

"Centuries" was written by Pete Wentz, Patrick Stump, Joe Trohman, Andy Hurley, Justin Tranter, Michael Fonseca and Raja Kumari in mid-2014 and was produced by Omega and J.R. Rotem, the latter of which also co-wrote the track. Stump originally came forward with the song while Fall Out Boy were on the Monumentour with fellow American band Paramore.

In an interview with Kerrang!, Wentz described the idea of the song as a "David vs. Goliath story", stating "We wanted to write a song that empowered people who are a little weird."

"Centuries" contains a sample of the song "Tom's Diner" by Suzanne Vega re-recorded by American singer Lolo for the track, which Stump described as "a tip of the hat" to, as the band wanted to "re-inject" it into pop culture.

FALL OUT BOY members:

Patrick Stump – lead vocals, guitar, piano
Joe Trohman – guitar, backing vocals
Pete Wentz – bass, backing vocals
Andy Hurley – drums, percussion

FALL OUT BOY is an American rock band formed in Wilmette, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, in 2001. The band consists of vocalist/guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz, guitarist Joe Trohman, and drummer Andy Hurley. The band originated from Chicago's hardcore punk scene, with which Wentz was heavily involved. The group was formed by Wentz and Trohman as a pop punk side project of their respective hardcore bands, and Stump joined shortly thereafter. The group went through a succession of drummers before landing Hurley and recording their debut album, Take This to Your Grave (2003), which became an underground success and helped the band gain a dedicated fanbase through heavy touring, as well as some moderate commercial success.

Faith No More - Motherfucker

San Francisco based reformed rock band Faith No More is working on a new album, their first since 1997′s Album Of The Year, the new album is set to be released in April 2015. The first studio version and music taste from what's to come, which would be preceded by a Record Store Day 7″ with an tune called “Motherfucker.” Released Nov.28 2014

The 7" (US-only 5000pcs limited-edition with a remix by J. G. Thirlwell at Self Immolation Studios, Brooklyn, NY.)

It’s probably intended as a warmup for the LP, and is thus sort of a throwaway for the band, but sonically and structurally, “Motherfucker” sounds like vintage FNM, owing largely to Mike Patton’s remarkable vocal range and attack. It’s not going to make anyone forget Angel Dust, but it might make some people remember Angel Dust, and it sets a pretty high bar for the new album.

Faith No More is an American rock band from San Francisco, California, formed in 1981. The band was originally named Faith No Man. Billy Gould, Roddy Bottum and Mike Bordin are the longest remaining members of the band, having been involved with Faith No More since its inception. The band underwent several lineup changes early in their career, along with some major changes later on. After releasing six albums, Faith No More officially announced their breakup on April 20, 1998. They have since reunited, embarking on The Second Coming Tour from 2009-2012.

On September 2, 2014, bassist Bill Gould announced that Faith No More has been working on a new album, which is set for release in April, 2015. The latest version of Faith No More to perform consisted of Mike Bordin, Roddy Bottum, Billy Gould, Jon Hudson, and Mike Patton.

Faith No More Line Up:

Mike Patton (vocals),
Bill Gould (bass),
Mike Bordin (drums),
Roddy Bottum (keyboard & vocals) &
Jon Hudson (guitar).

Lugnet is an upcoming Swedish band with the tough, gritty sounds of '70s hard rock that features well rounded musicians with touring and recording experience.

The guitar driven attack from Mackan and Bonden delivers crushing riffs and classic rock melodies, that rides on the steady and driving rhythm section of extraordinary bass player Z and drummer Jansson (ex. Witchcraft). The lead singer Roger (Ken Hensley) fronts Lugnet with an on-stage swagger, passion & voice reminiscent of the late Ray Gillen (Badlands).

The band name Lugnet means tranquility (the calm) in Swedish and is also the name of the area where the band rehearse their music. But make no mistake this band is out to kill...

Billy Talent - Red Flag

$

"Red Flag" is the second single released from the Canadian rock group Billy Talent's EP, Red Flags and second album, Billy Talent II. The single was released on September 11, 2006.

Red Flag was originally released in 2005 as a part of the soundtracks of a number of Electronic Arts video games, including NHL 06, Burnout Revenge, Burnout Legends and SSX On Tour. A leaked demo of the song made its way across the internet. This demo was released by Atlantic Records on the Black Sampler II. The album version is different from the earlier release, with the bridge and refrain having been changed. It has also been used in the soundtrack for the 2007 movie TMNT.

The music video for this song, directed by Floria Sigismondi – known for her work with artists such as Sigur Rós and Björk – began shooting on July 21, 2005, and first began playing in the United Kingdom, on January 20, 2006, (on Scuzz). It debuted in Canada on MuchMusic the following day.

The video depicts a spontaneous revolution by youths. It begins with a group of school children locked inside a school, screaming, "We want out!" Finally, they break through the handcuffed doors and proceed to run around the school and surrounding area, covering various symbols of authority and luxury – including a CCTV camera, a barbecue, a boat, a car, gas pumps and eventually the town hall – with red flags. As they run through the town, more people join in. Finally, they arrive at city hall where the members of Billy Talent are performing, and which has been covered with red flags. Most children begin to mosh to the song, while others continue to run around, covering things with red flags. One of the children throws history books into the crowd, destroying them. The video ends with the children standing under a red sky, with pages of the books falling behind them, all wearing Soviet GP-5 gas masks. Voices chanting "We want out!" can also be heard at the end of the video.

Billy Talent is a Canadian punk rock band from Mississauga, Ontario. They formed in 1993 with Benjamin Kowalewicz as the lead vocalist, Ian D'Sa on guitar, bassist Jon Gallant and drummer Aaron Solowoniuk.

The band existed for almost a decade before mainstream success. The members met and played in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Secondary School under the name Pezz and remained underground in Toronto's indie music scene until 2001. The band renamed itself Billy Talent after running into legal trouble with the old name. It was then that Kowalewicz's connection with an employee of Warner Music Canada's A&R department landed the band a record deal and launched them into mainstream success. Since then, Billy Talent has made two multi-platinum records in Canada, and continues to expand their success overseas, this included touring for 20 months supporting their third album. They released their fourth album, entitled Billy Talent III, on July 14, 2009, and their fifth album, entitled Dead Silence, on September 4, 2012. Dead Silence was followed up by a full UK tour over the course of October and November 2012. To commemorate the longevity since the release of their first studio album, the band has released a greatest hits album entitled "Hits" on November 4, 2014
.

Cast off the crutch that kills the pain
The Red Flag waving never meant the same
The kids of tomorrow don't need today
When they live in the sins of yesterday

Sunday, time for a classic tune!

Blackfoot is an American Southern rock musical ensemble from Jacksonville, Florida organized during 1970. Though they are primarily a Southern rock band, they are also known as a hard rock act. The band's classic lineup consisted of guitarist and vocalist Rickey Medlocke, guitarist Charlie Hargrett, bassist Greg T. Walker, and drummer Jakson Spires.

They've had a number of successful albums during the 1970s and early 1980s, including Strikes (1979), Tomcattin' (1980) and Marauder (1981).

Around this time with nearly two years of incessant touring led to a demand for a live album, which the band recorded with the help of the Rolling Stones' mobile studio during a three-month jaunt across the British Isles in 1982. The Live album got named "Highway Song Live" after one of the bands biggest hit! That this was recorded during the spirit of the classic records, did this Live recording ended up to be a masterpiece, as their performance is explosive and all the great tracks are here, a must have "Live" album in other words.

Todays tune "Highway Song" was Composed by Jakson "Thunderfoot" Spires / Rick Medlocke is originally taken from the third studio album Strikes (1979) but todays version is from the Live album "Highway Song Live" released (1982)

Goat - Hide from the Sun

New week and it is time to present the last "Record Of The Week" for this year.

"Commune" is the second full-length release from the Swedish psychedelic rock collective.

Goat’s first album, 2012’s World Music, fused African music, psychedelia and elaborately costumed Swedish eccentricity, the album was also priced with a "Record Of The Week" little over 2 years ago.

The live shows with Goat were like rituals, have been able to see them live a few times.

"Commune" the second album continues on the same path, it's more darker, slower than it's predecessor. "Commune" is still mysterious and surrounded with Swedish voodoo-psych mixed with drones and deeply danceable psych-fuzz indulgences. I am a real sucker for this kind of music. I just love the crazy way of composing songs like "Goat" does.

Well, check it up if you dig World Music in a crazy "Voodoo" way.

"Sail" is a song by American electronic rock band Awolnation. It was written and produced in Venice, California by group member Aaron Bruno, with Kenny Carkeet performing the audio engineering. The song was first featured on the band's debut extended play Back from Earth (2010) and was later featured on their debut album Megalithic Symphony (2011).

Released as a single on January 4, 2011, "Sail" is the band's most commercially successful song to date.

The video for "Sail" opens with lead singer Aaron Bruno running to a house. He enters the house relieved to have escaped from the threat outside. He shuts the blinds. Bruno then finds a tape recorder, and starts singing into it. He enters a bathroom and looks into a mirror, still singing. A green strip of light enters the house and moves across it, scanning a spacesuit helmet and a military flight-suit. As the light climbs up the stairs towards him, Bruno hides inside a full bathtub. The beam scans him in the bath. Bruno is then depicted being pulled across the floor by an unknown force; he attempts to cling to a door-frame, but loses his grip. The scene is interspersed with shots of Bruno closing a door and playing the song's piano section. As the song's final chorus section begins, the house shakes. Lights and lamps turn on and off as gusts of wind blow. Bruno is pulled by the mysterious force outside the house, and he is subsequently levitated up into the sky as a set of floodlights flash on him. He drops the tape recorder.

A video recorded by Youtuber Nanalew two years prior to Awolnation's own video has nearly 150 million views, in comparison to the groups own video which has just about 2 million.

Awolnation (usually stylized as AWOLNATION) is an American electronic rock band, formed and fronted by Aaron Bruno, formerly of Under the Influence of Giants, Hometown Hero and Insurgence. Dark Funeral - Nail Them To The Cross

Swedish black metal miscreants, Dark Funeral have released a new video for the track “Nail Them To The Cross” via Century Media Records. The track is part of a limited 7″ single and along with another track will be unleashed sometime in 2015. Until then, you can check out the video down below.

"Nail Them To The Cross" was recorded at Dugout Studios in Uppsala, Sweden and was mixed and mastered by Daniel Bergstrand. The clip was directed by Owe Lingvall.

A strictly limited seven-inch single including "Nail Them To The Cross" and another new track will be released in early 2015.

In 2012, Dark Funeral signed a worldwide deal with Century Media Records.

Dark Funeral celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2013 with a number of festival appearances all over Europe. They were joined at the gigs by their "classic" vocalist Emperor Magus Caligula, who left the band on good terms for personal reasons in 2010.

Formed in 1993 by Lord Ahriman, the band quickly gained massive underground support by being one of the most ferocious and fastest black metal acts on earth. Since then, they have spread their unholy gospel over the whole world and build up a loyal cult following from the coldest parts of the northern hemisphere to the hottest hell of Asia.

After an extensive and exhausting tour through Asia and Australia in late 2012, Dark Funeral parted ways with vocalist Nachtgarm.

The new line-up:

Lord Ahriman
The true emperor among the kings of Swedish Black Metal. Founder, guitarist and songwriter.

Chaq Mol
Guitarist and Co/songwriter
Dominator
Drummer
Natt - Bass
Treading into this world, Natt has always had a strong, deep interest in music and the arts of the great unknown. Spending time during the nights, exploring, the Swedish ancient forests, avoiding the common mass that wander this simplistic world, made his relations and visions to that which lies beyond, stronger. Which is the same to this day.

Before Dark Funeral, Natt was a member of the Black/Thrash metal band Angrepp where he met his now close friends Adrian Lawson (Angrepp, IXXI)
and Fredrik Widigs (The Ugly, Marduk) and later on joined the deeply devoted Black Metal act, Withershin.

Natt: "Since the beginning of my time, here, in this world, there has always been, a strong connection,
towards the isolated parts of the soul, a connection within and beyond.A connection to what can not be seen, nor heard. To everything and nothing. To what is, and what is not, and that, which lies between.Outside the borders, of this life.

Beyond, yet within the acausal flame, in the night, I dwell, beyond the broken circle, outside of the causal mundane, yet not."

Heljarmadr - Vocals
With roots in the second half of the 90’s black metal scene and with tentacles in bands such as highly respected Grá, Domgård and Cursed 13 comes a raw force from the underground.

Known as a fierce frontman, both on stage and on recordings with his previous bands, he will now step up and claim a seat in the throne room of Dark Funeral to inflict deep scars and infect wounds in the black metal scene. The name Heljarmadr derives from the old Scandinavian languages, simply meaning “a man belonging to hell”.

With long time experience in the arts of creating dark satanic music, he will play a key role in shaping the future vocal and lyrical direction of Dark Funeral. Expect nothing but excellence, pure darkness and uncompromising evil!

Now we almost reached the end of this year, December 20th and during this time of the year it's time to sum it all up with this year's best albums!

This have been a really, I mean really good year album wise, when I started to collect together all the good albums before this, I realized after a while that this does not really hold when you start approaching 3 digit :) Well after a few hours it starts to resemble to something like a top 20. It was really difficult task this year. In other words, it has simply been too much good records this year.

Many great records have unfortunately fallen off the list, but the music heart have decided and now when I look at it, it was not quite what I had expected from the beginning, which means that this list got to be very interesting. I am absolutely convinced that you not fully agree with me, but this is what I like. And luckily that the taste is divided, how else would it be.

First up we present this year's best albums between 20 - 11. Where you get the first 10 at once. Today's tune will be publish later on this evening. So here we go!

20. Accept - Blind Rage
The old-school metal band ACCEPT, with their third album within the five years since their re-launch. ACCEPT shows once again that they still can deliver a excellent record.

19. Electric Wizard - Time To Die
Electric Wizard Releases a cocky and modern doom canon!

18. Truckfighters - Universe
Fuzzy rockers no One releases a nice piece of work with heavy riffing along with catchy lyrics.

17. Ancient Ascendant – Echoes And Cinder
AncientAscendanthas droppeda powerfulpiece on thedeath metalscene. With it's
extremely effective technique will hook any Death Metal fans on this globe.

16. Monolord - Empress Rising

Empress Rising hooks you with it's, almost hypnotic way, around a huge layer of psychedelic space doom blended with a mix of stoner vibes and trippy heaviness that will take you off your dirty shoes and put you out somewhere else out there in the darkened space and leave you breathless.

15. Bloodbath – Grand Morbid Funeral

Sweden’s masters of horrors Bloodbath with Nick Holmes (Paradise Lost) who now handles vocals shows that they still can make a record that will frighten most of the souls on this planet.

14. At The Gates – At War With Reality
What a comeback record, that At The Gates is able to delivera recordlike thisafter 19 yearsispretty cool.

13. Foo Fighters - Sonic Highways
The Foo Fighters are back with a freakin' fun album. A decent fist-pumping rock'n'roll record.

12. Mastodon – Once More Round The Sun
Once More Round The Sun is a non-stop journey into the progressive jungle of crazy math-y "Mastodon". It is a brilliant continuation of "The Hunter" but still its completely different and on such higher level.

11. Ne Obliviscaris - Citadel
This dark beauty release is one of the better compositions of the year.

Todays tune comes in a hour or so.

Ancient Ascendant - Patterns of Bane

On the 17th place on Tune Of The Day's best albums of the year 2014 did "Echoes And Cinder" with the British based quartet "Ancient Ascendant" placed.

Ancient Ascendant with a great brand of song writing based on a solid foundation of black and death metal, whilst injecting eclectic ideas from a wide range of fine metal traditions.

Since the release of their critically acclaimed debut EP 'The Heathen Throne', Ancient Ascendant have shared the stage with black metal monsters 1349, death metal legends Bolt Thrower (who personally invited the band to support them), Rotting Christ, Fleshgod Apocalypse and Blood Red Throne to name a few.

2011 was a hugely successful year for Ancient Ascendant, which saw their highly rated debut album 'The Grim Awakening' being released by Siege of Amida Records, as well as signing to the renowned Factory Music booking agency. Quickly following up on this with their second EP, 2012 saw the release of 'Into The Dark’.

‘Into The Dark’ represented the latest evolution of British death metal standard bearers Ancient Ascendant, brought to life under the expert guidance of the legendary Dan Swanö (Opeth, Dissection, Dark Funeral, Bloodbath, Katatonia, Marduk etc…).

2012 also saw the band completing a successful UK tour with gore metal legends Aborted, playing a packed out Sophie Lancaster stage at Bloodstock Open Air, as well as sharing a stage with the masters of Teutonic thrash Sodom.

2013 began with a busy touring schedule, traveling the UK and Ireland with Enslaved/Winterfylleth, then as main support to Hypocrisy. The rest of the year was spent writing and recording their second full length album, once again with Dan Swanö at the helm.

Having released the follow up to their 2012 EP 'Into the Dark' in March 2014, their new full length album ‘Echoes and Cinder’ continues in the style they have honed over the last 6 years while raising the bar in every conceivable way. More extremity, more melody, more groove and more evil.

Spring 2014 saw the band complete an extensive European tour with legendary death metal band Pestilence amidst critical praise for their latest opus.

Todays tune "Patterns of Bane" taken from the second full-length opus, Echoes and Cinder.

Conan - Blood Eagle

10th place on the Tune Of The Days Album of the year goes to the doomsters trio from Liverpool. Conan's latest slab of rumbling doom metal is as thick and viscous as maple syrup. Blood Eagle is ridiculously heavy and drony. With it's towering monolith and barbaric riffs will scare any living soul that have their lights off during this time of year and this record spinning.

This is the best doom record of the year, no doubt about that.

Todays tune "Foehammer" is the fastest tune on the record, enjoy!

Crobot - Something Supernatural

The Central Pennsylvania old-souled, dirty groove rock quartet ”Crobot" takes the 9th place with the album "Something Supernatural" on Tune Of The Days Best album of the year 2014.

A band that we basically hailed to the gods of music creators for almost two years ago with the amazing tune ”Legend Of the Spaceborne Killer”. These dudes from Pottsville, with their catchy blues rock they really hit me in the face with their dirty snake boots.

It's really fun to listen to these guys, with their swinging rock, is not a limb in the body that stands still during thier play on the record table and all this with a giant smile.

Crobot is composed of the frontman Brandon Yeagley with his power packed vocals, Chris Bishop's magical riffages together with excellent rhythm section of Jake Figueroa and Paul Figueroa.

The first video and single "Nowhere to Hide” from the "Something Supernatural" have been seen here on Tune Of The Day earlier and today we give you another tune from the record called "Cloud Spiller", Enjoy!

A handful of all the 100's of album that have been released this year, "Relics Of Sulphur Salvation" is a record you can't miss.

Inget skrämmer människan till ett liv i träldom
Såsom frihetens kaotiska tillvaro

Dödens iskalla andetag
och ditt själsljus släcks
förevigt förtappad
Dödens maskätna anlete
i gravens mörker
ditt kött blir jord

Todays tune "Where All Flesh Is Soil" is taken from "Relics Of Sulphur Salvation", enjoy!

We wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I wish you all the best and take care of each other with lots of love.

Todays tune "Tänd ett ljus" ("Light a Candle"), written by Niklas Strömstedt and Lasse Lindbom, is a song that was recorded by the Swedish band Triad in 1987. The outro includes Christmas and New Year's greetings in different languages. The song is sung a cappella, with finger-snapping in the background. The theme of the song is that Christmas will light a candle as a symbol of hope for a better world. It has become a Christmas classic in Sweden, and is often included in Christmas music collections.

First out the orginal Video from 1987.

The second video is when they performed at Allsången here in Stockholm a year ago.

Cheers Stones
